International Music Ashram Association
The International Music Ashram Association has been created to provide information to anyone around the world who may be interested in starting a music ashram or looking for information on whether their own music camp or other venue might consider expanding to include these concepts. A music ashram is a novel concept, that came to the attention of Jefferson Glassie, chief spiritual dude of thePlanetary Gigs Society on a trip to India. In Rishikesh, Jefferson was guided to the Devi Music Ashram, which is the inspiration for establishing the IMAA as part of the Society.
A music ashram could be described as a group of people living or staying together to focus on music - learning, playing, and creating - and sharing resources. Music ashram is a new term, but music camps and educational centers may have similar characteristics.
There are no memberships or dues for the IMAA and not obligations of any sort. We simply will provide information about music ashrams as we come upon it, and are happy to answer any questions. Here is a short guidance document on establishing a music ashram:
Information is provided on this page about the Devi Music Ashram and other similar ventures or programs.
